The Founder – Chris Hill: A Journey Fueled by Dreams and Laughter!
Q: So, Chris, as a kid, what was your ultimate dream? And who fueled that fire within you?
A: Good one, my childhood dreams were quite the mix! Picture a mashup of Captain James T. Kirk from the Starship Enterprise, a suave 007 on a crucial mission, Captain von Trapp escaping tyranny, and even one of the dashing Three Musketeers. I guess I’ve always had this insatiable hunger for performance and excitement!
Q: That’s fantastic! Now, what would you say has been your greatest achievement? And how has it influenced your life?
A: My greatest achievement? Definitely transforming wild ideas into reality to create my own business (saying that, I’m actually unemployable). Taking those flashes of inspiration and turning them into something tangible has given me an incredibly unique business and a seriously healthy attitude towards life.
Q: Wow! So, in your opinion, what historic phenomenon stands out as one of the most significant?
A: Ah, the human expression of Art! It all started with those awe-inspiring cave paintings, and it’s been captivating our souls ever since. There’s something truly magical about art’s ability to transcend time and touch us on a profound level.
Q: Speaking of inspiration, what motivated you to establish Slixer?
A: Easy one, it’s my undying passion for entertaining people! I simply can’t resist the allure of applause and the priceless smiles it brings. There’s nothing quite like seeing pure joy light up the faces of those we entertain.
Q: Starting out must have had its fair share of challenges. How did you tackle them head-on?
A: Well, it’s ongoing, let me tell you, it’s a rollercoaster ride! One of the biggest hurdles was having this unique idea but lacking the budget to make it happen. That’s where the magic of creative financing came into play. Friends and family (and credit cards…shhhhhh) became the secret ingredient in turning dreams into reality!
Q: Exciting stuff! So, what’s next for you and Slixer? Any sneak peeks into the future?
A: Hold onto your hats, because we’re taking the world by storm with super cool events of every kind! BizBash recently interviewed me and my answers hold true. We’ve combined cutting-edge technology with video conferencing and live actors to create an experience that’ll blow your mind. The possibilities are endless. That said, the one staple I promise to never change is the no-tech, live, interactive performances that require nothing but your presence and a good sense of humour (or humor if you one of my adored US fans).
Q: Finally, what’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received in your life?
A: Ah, wise words indeed: “Be good, and if you can’t be good, be careful.” It’s a little reminder to embrace mischief with a touch of caution. Life’s too short not to have a little fun along the way!
